"Writing is like walking out to the parking lot, opening your car door, putting your head inside, and then slamming the door. And you know what? You realize, as you're doing it, that you have to get up and do the same thing tomorrow. And it's going to hurt like hell." --John Dahl

There's only ever two questions to answer, in writing: What story do you want to tell? And how do you intend to tell it?

That's what I'm working on these days, albeit incrementally, in between Cal's periods of perpetually lunging, screaming, grabbing, drooling, chewing wakefulness. Yesterday I had several breakthroughs in terms of plot vis-a-vis Blood From The Air, which is rapidly growing a genuinely human interest infrastructure--characters through whom, slowly, my overbearing concepts can be brought to light. But none of this matters even a single fuck if I can't get black on white, and that...that is the trick, right there. OH yeah.

So maybe I'll be back soon with a word-count, maybe not. I hope for the former. It'd given me some vague sense that I was living to do more than lift weights and heat bottles.
